Read 1 Peter 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
To love life and see good days, guard your speech, turn away from deceit, do good, and seek peace. God’s watchful awareness rests on the righteous and hears their prayers.
Neville's Inner Vision
1 Peter 3:10-12 invites you to realize that life and days are the outward echo of your inner state. The man who loves life must choose a tongue aligned with truth and refrain from guile, for words spoken in harmony with your deepest good summon the conditions you desire. When you eschew evil and do good, you are not resisting a rule but affirming a state of harmony within your own consciousness. Seek peace and pursue it, and you will notice that peace migrates from your inner atmosphere into your relationships, decisions, and atmosphere around you. The ‘eyes of the Lord’ over the righteous are the inseparable awareness that watches your every thought; the ears are the attentiveness of your own prayers when they spring from faith and alignment. The clause about the face of the Lord being against evil becomes a gentle reminder: persist in inner negativity, and you block the flow; choose the higher tone, and your life unfolds in accord with your inner light. In Neville’s terms, you are the I AM, and your state creates your world.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: For 5 minutes, assume the feeling that you already love life and live in peace; speak only truth and harmless words; observe how the day shifts to reflect that state.
