Scripture Focus

10For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
1 Peter 3:10-11

Biblical Context

The passage urges guarding the tongue and turning from evil, choosing good and pursuing peace so that one may love life and experience good days.

Neville's Inner Vision

On the level of consciousness, the verse speaks: love of life and good days begins with the tongue, but the tongue is only the outward sign of the inner state you entertain. When you refrain from evil and speak no guile, you are not merely obeying a rule; you are choosing a new self and a new image of the world. You are refusing to let a negative picture take root in your mind and, in doing so, you awaken the I AM that writes your days with peace. The outer world merely mirrors the inner assumption you hold about yourself; to live in harmony you must first inhabit the state of harmony in your own awareness. Picture yourself as the man or woman who seeks peace and acts from purity and integrity, and let your words confirm that state. As you persist, days that follow will echo the image you have chosen, for creation responds to the reality you feel most vividly. Eschew evil, do good, and the life you love will become your living proof.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Assume the feeling of the good life now by silently repeating, 'I am peace; I speak truth and love,' and feel it real as days unfold in harmony. Do this for one minute daily until the sensation becomes your natural speech.
