Inner Subjection Manifested
1 Peter 3:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Peter 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage urges wives to be in subjection to their own husbands. By conducting themselves with purity and reverence, even if the husband does not obey the word, they may win him over without words.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the figures 'wives' and 'husbands' are states of consciousness, not people. Subjection is inner alignment with the I AM, the divine Presence that you are. When the outward state appears to disobey the Word, your job is to hold your inner stance—calm, pure, and reverent—so your life becomes the 'conversation' that wins by being. The 'chaste conversation' is the consistent demonstration of your inner state: a life that speaks through integrity, not through argument. Fear becomes reverence before the truth within you, a sacred trust that your quiet nature can transmute outer conditions. Your assumption is that you already live in harmony with the I AM, and that this inner state moves all appearances toward harmony. Keep faith with the feeling that you and the divine are one, and let the outer world follow the truth you have assumed, without force or words.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled—that you already live in perfect harmony with the I AM. Then act from that inner state today, speaking and behaving as if the outer situation has already changed.
