Inner Purity of Speech
1 Peter 2:22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Peter 2 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse asserts that Christ did no sin and had no guile in his mouth, presenting purity and truth as the standard.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the verse not as a historical verdict but as an inner portrait: the man or woman who did no sin and had no guile is the state of consciousness you can wake within yourself. Sin is a misalignment; guile is the energy of concealment, the mind at war with itself. When you imagine Jesus, or the perfect inner you, as the still, quiet center who never speaks from fear or vanity, you are naming a truth already present in your own I AM. Your outer words can reveal that inner conviction, but only after you have revised your sense of self. In practice, you can imagine a moment when you would ordinarily choose a hidden motive or a deceit; then, withdraw with the conviction 'I am pure awareness; there is no motive but truth in me.' As you dwell in that identification, the feeling of integrity expands and your speech becomes clear and guileless. The world around you is a reflection of your inner order; cultivate the inner fruit, and purity is your natural expression.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume 'I am pure awareness.' Imagine your mouth speaking only truth, no hidden motive, and feel the steadiness and clarity that follows.
