Inner Freedom Through Service

1 Peter 2:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Peter 2 in context

Scripture Focus

16As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
17Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
1 Peter 2:16-17

Biblical Context

Peter teaches that true freedom is not license for malice but a stance of service to God; all people are to be honored and feared in reverence. Liberty, in this sense, is a sacred responsibility.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice that freedom here is not a license to roam the world of symptoms, but a liberty established in consciousness as obedience to the I AM within. You are 'servants of God' not to trample others but to align your inner state with divine order. When you honor all, you acknowledge that every person is a mirror of your own I AM—your inner king acknowledging the worth assigned by the Creator. Love the brotherhood and fear God are inner disciplines that keep the mind disciplined, so your thoughts and feelings do not revolt against your good. To the degree you respect the king—the inner sense of order or civil authority—you invite your reality to unfold with grace. The practical shift is to assume the state of the servant of God already present in you, and revise any grievance as a scene that never happened. Your liberty is realized as mastery of your inner thoughts and feelings, not domination of others. When you walk as a child of God, you embody the kingship of consciousness.

Practice This Now

For the next few minutes, assume the state I am free and I serve God; revise any grievance as a scene that has dissolved, and feel it real as divine order guides your day.
