The Inner Governors

1 Peter 2:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Peter 2 in context

Scripture Focus

14Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
1 Peter 2:14

Biblical Context

Governors are divine instruments for enforcing order—punishing evildoers and praising the good. In plain terms, outward authority mirrors your own inner convictions and the state of your mind.

Neville's Inner Vision

Take 'governors' as the inner governors of your mind—those states of consciousness appointed by the I AM to keep order. The verse is not about petitioning a distant ruler; it is a reminder that your world follows your inner arrangements. When you imagine governors meting out punishment to evildoers and praise to the well-doing, you are naming the law already at work in you: justice is a function of your awareness. Therefore, the outward scene of rulers, laws, and punishments becomes a mirror of what you believe about yourself. By assuming that you are already governed by divine order, you revise your feelings and beliefs until they feel true. In this act, you stop fighting the world and begin aligning your inner state with the principle that governs all: I AM. Your life will reflect the order you cultivate inside, with right conduct rewarded and chaos dissolved as you persist in the feeling of being governed by God within.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling that you are governed by the I AM; revise a current fear of injustice by declaring 'I am governed by divine order' and imagine an inner governor delivering justice in your thoughts.
