Inner Pilgrim: Purity in Action

1 Peter 2:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Peter 2 in context

Scripture Focus

11Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
1 Peter 2:11-12

Biblical Context

Peter urges believers to live as strangers in the world, renounce fleshly desires, and let their conduct among nonbelievers be honest so that their good works testify to God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, you are not of the world but a stranger in the land of appearances; your true home is the I AM, that quiet awareness behind every thought. The fleshly lusts are distractions from your real nature, and their power wanes when you choose the inner state you desire: purity, steadiness, and gentle integrity. In daily life, let your conduct be honest before the world, for the Gentiles may judge you, but their judgments cannot reach the inner kingdom you already possess. Your good works spring from this inner condition; acts of kindness, patience, and truth become visible as a natural fruit of your being. As others behold them, they witness the glory of God within you and, in their own way, glorify that God in the day of visitation—the time when inner reality moments into outer form. Practice makes the shift: you are the I AM; imagine and feel from that unity, and reality unfolds to match that inner conviction.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, feel the I AM within, and imagine you already live without lusts; let your day flow from that inner purity and observe the outer world aligning with it.
