Awakening to Inner Holiness

1 Peter 1:14-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Peter 1 in context

Scripture Focus

14As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1 Peter 1:14-16

Biblical Context

Peter urges believers to shed former desires and live as obedient children, reflecting the holy calling of God in every action. They are to be holy in all speech and conduct because God is holy.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider Peter’s call as a intimate invitation to the state of your own awareness. You are not bound to the former lusts that once seemed real; those are relics of ignorance. The call, like a divine I AM, invites you to live from holiness, for the one who called you is holy, and you, in truth, are that holiness in expression. When you identify with the inner I AM, obedience becomes the natural alignment of your thoughts, words, and conduct with the sacred law within. The apparent world shifts as you dwell in this state; temptations lose power, because they no longer inhabit the inner room you now occupy. Practically, you do not fight the old self; you revise it by assuming the new self now: I am the holy I AM; my former impulses belong to a memory, not to me. Speak and act from that essence, and your speech and conduct will reflect holiness in all things, for I am holy.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the holy I AM, feeling that inner state as your immediate reality. Revise any urge by declaring it not yours and letting your next act flow from holiness.
