1 Kings 9:16-17

Biblical Context

Pharaoh captured Gezer and burned it, then gave it to Solomon’s wife. Solomon then rebuilt Gezer and Bethhoron.

Neville's Inner Vision

Gezer here is a state of mind seized by an old memory of bondage—the Pharaoh within. The burning and the gift to Solomon’s wife symbolize the release of that fortress from the mind and the welcoming of wisdom into the heart. Solomon, the figure of inner order and rightful power, rebuilding Gezer and Bethhoron is symbolic of the inner act: after the release, the consciousness establishes a fortified center that serves covenant loyalty rather than pride. In Neville’s view, the Kingdom of God is not a distant realm but an inner government now formed by the I AM. The authority of the outer king dissolves when the I AM is acknowledged as governor; wealth and provision flow as the mind aligns with divine law and intention. The events point to a transformation: external events mirror inner rearrangements. When I permit the old geographies of fear to be burned away and invite wisdom to govern my inner cities, I become capable of steady abundance, security, and harmony in alignment with the covenant within.

Practice This Now

Assume the I AM as governor of your mind now. Feel the old Gezer burn away and imagine Solomon's wisdom rebuilding your inner city into a temple of peace.
