Biblical Context
1 Kings 6:33-35 describes temple doors made of olive wood posts, fir doors that fold, and gold-covered carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and flowers. The passage invites viewing the temple entrance as a symbol of our inner sanctuary and presence.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine that the temple you read of is your own consciousness. The olive-wood posts are the quiet, steadfast I AM that never moves; the door of fir that folds is your thought’s possibility to shift or cling. The cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers carved upon the wood are the images you entertain day by day; when you cover them with gold, you are practicing the truth that all form is light in your awareness, and that your God is the I AM already present. As you accept this, the door is not a barrier but a gate through which Presence enters your field of experience. If you feel distance from God, reframe the scene: assume the Presence stands at that doorway, ready to greet you, and let the next moment be a conscious act of letting in what you already are. In slow, habitual repetition, your inner sanctuary becomes your outer life, and worship becomes the I AM's natural expression.
Practice This Now
Assume the scene: the door of your temple with olive wood posts and folding fir leaves. Then declare I AM here and feel the gold of Presence covering the carved forms as you pass through.
