Biblical Context
Within the inner sanctuary of Solomon's temple, two equal cherubim stand with wings stretched to touch opposite walls and meet in the center, forming a single, holy inward dwelling.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within your inner sanctuary, the two cherubim stand as the disciplined faculties of consciousness, equal in measure, their wings stretched across the space until they touch at the center. They are not distant figures; they are your own states of awareness, aligned and complete. The Presence of God—what many seek outside—is the result of this inner alignment: the I AM within you, feeling and knowing as one. The wings touching the walls symbolize a perfect boundary and a living limit that cannot be crossed by fear or doubt, while their meeting in the middle proclaims your wholeness. The ten-cubit height is the height of awareness you reach when you live from the one Self, the I AM, rather than from scattered desires. Thus the inner temple remains holy because it is kept intact by disciplined assumption. Practically, enter the scene with this inner image: you are the temple, the cherubim are your faithful thoughts and feelings, and the Presence is your own awareness. If you dwell there, you need outward proof from nothing; you already stand in the Presence.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: sit quietly and assume you are the temple. Visualize two equal cherubim inside your mind, their wings touching the walls and meeting in the middle, and dwell in the Presence.
