Jehoshaphat built ships to go to Ophir for gold, but the ships did not sail because they were broken. Ahaziah asked to join, but Jehoshaphat refused.
Neville's Inner Vision
Verse 48–49 presents Jehoshaphat as a man who seeks a outward voyage for gold, yet the outward vessels fail. In Neville’s psychology, the ships are not literal boats but images born of a state of consciousness in which wealth and navigation are imagined into being. The breaking of the ships indicates a misalignment between the desire (the goal) and the inner requirement of the I AM guiding the consciousness. When you dwell in the awareness that you are the I AM, you stop pursuing ships that do not originate from your inner reality. Jehoshaphat’s refusal of Ahaziah’s invitation is a moment of discernment that keeps the plan consistent with the higher state; it is a statement that harmony with your inner guidance matters more than external compacts. Providence is not a distant event but the living I AM behind every image; the inner state determines which ventures are allowed to sail. The verse invites you to examine what you are courting as your treasure: is it a product of the outer mind or a legitimate emanation of your divine self? Align your expectations with your state and your plans will respond.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM is steering your next venture. Feel it real that the plan sails in harmony with your inner state.
