At sunset, the host disperses to its cities. The king dies and is buried in Samaria, and the chariot is washed, fulfilling the LORD's word.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the allegory of 1 Kings 22:36-38, you are not watching history but listening to the echo of your inner state. The king represents your ruling image of power—the character you have trusted to govern your life. When the proclamation goes forth, every ‘part’ of you is sent back to its own inner city, retreating from the crowded theater of outer demands. The king dies not by accident but by the inexorable law you learn to obey: the LORD is the inner I AM, the invisible governor of all states of consciousness. His word manifests as those outer events you call necessity: the burial in Samaria, the washing of the chariot, the dogs that lick up the blood—symbols of the cleansing effects of truth on the old form. This is not punishment but alignment: the old ego is dissolved so the living Lord may reign in its stead. Your task is to hear that word and revise your state until the appearance of the old king vanishes from your experience, leaving a serene, sovereign you.
Practice This Now
Imaginative_act: Assume the inner king has died to the old power. Feel the I AM enthroned as sovereign awareness, and observe the old self dissolving into quiet light.
