Biblical Context
God's word comes to Elijah, issuing a direct, prophetic directive. The verse marks a moment of inner communication that calls Elijah to respond.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, the word of the LORD comes to Elijah as a movement of consciousness, not merely a voice from without. The I AM in you awakens to a directive, a license to act in alignment with your true nature. Elijah’s identity is simply the state of attentiveness that refuses to forget who you are. The 'word' is your inner signal—an assurance, a proposal, a plan—that arises when you still the restless mind and listen with expectancy. The prophetic commission then is your own renewed sense of purpose: a clear direction to act in harmony with the higher idea you call God. The presence of God is thus experienced as awareness itself, here and now, right where you stand; you discern by feeling the truth of the impulse and stepping into it. Practice this: treat any inner prompting as the voice of your I AM, revise doubt with the image of complete consent, and feel the reality of direction pulsing through you.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe, and say, 'The word of the LORD speaks to me now.' Then assume the feeling of complete agreement with that inner directive and act on the first instinct it inspires.
