Naboth in the Inner City
1 Kings 21:11-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Kings 21 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
In Naboth's trial, the city leaders obey Jezebel, using false witnesses to condemn him and stone him; the passage shows how inner perceptions can be manipulated into perceived 'justice' when belief governs action.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the temple of your own consciousness, Naboth stands as the steadfast conviction of righteousness you would not compromise. The men of his city—the elders and nobles—represent the ruling beliefs that appear to govern your life when fear, pride, or hostile opinions push you to submit to a crowd. Jezebel is the relentless suggestion that you must conform to a tyrant image—an inner command that can stamp out a truth with ritual, obedience, and fear of loss. The two men, sons of Belial, who testify against Naboth, are the voices of doubt and projection; they frame your inner witness as blasphemy against the king of your life, i.e., your conscious self-image. The fast proclaimed and the high seat symbolize a ceremonial acceptance of a false verdict, a ritual of burying your true claim under pressure. Yet the law you live by is not an external decree but the I AM, the living awareness that can reverse the scene. By shifting assumption to the reality that Naboth—the upright principle in you—is always alive, you dissolve the false witness and restore divine order within.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling of Naboth alive within your mind; declare that the I AM is the true judge in the city of your heart, and revise the scene so the false witnesses fall away and justice is established in your inner kingdom.
