Biblical Context
In 2:36-38, Shimei is commanded to dwell in Jerusalem and not leave; if he does, he will surely die. He agrees to remain and stays there for many days.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the Neville Goddard vein, Shimei represents a fixed state of consciousness that must remain within the city of awareness. The king embodies your higher I AM—the inner decree that orders reality. To build a house in Jerusalem and dwell there is to establish a permanent, lived-state of consciousness anchored in the sense of I AM. The brook Kidron marks the boundary between the old, fearful self and the fulfilled state; crossing it is not a physical escape but an act of aligning with a belief in separation that would ‘kill’ the old self. Shimei’s response, ‘The saying is good: as my lord the king hath said, so will thy servant do,’ reveals faithful submission to the inner law. His dwelling there for many days signals the persistence of the new state until it becomes natural. The presence of God is the felt I AM within; judgment and accountability arise as internal consequences when one imagines leaving the deliberate state. Your work is to feel that you already inhabit this Jerusalem and let it set the tone of your daily life.
Practice This Now
Assume you are already dwelling in the Jerusalem of your I AM. Close your eyes, affirm the inner decree, and feel the steady presence of that state; for today, refuse to cross the imagined boundary and let that certainty anchor your day.
