1 Kings 2:1-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Kings 2 in context

Scripture Focus

1Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,
2I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;
3And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:
4That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.
1 Kings 2:1-4

Biblical Context

David's final charge to Solomon calls him to be strong and steadfast, to walk in the Lord's ways, and to keep His commandments so that his life and throne may prosper.

Neville's Inner Vision

David’s death symbolizes the end of the old mind, while Solomon represents the rising state of awareness—the I AM within you. The call to be strong and to shew thyself a man invites you to assume a fixed inner state, a level of consciousness that stands firm under pressure. To keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways means to align every thought, feeling, and action with the inner law you have accepted as true. The listing of statutes, commandments, judgments, and testimonies points to the precise mental habits you must cultivate; these are inner dispositions that organize life. When you live from that inner order, you prosper in all you do, wherever you turn, because your outer world must mirror your inward decree. The words about the LORD continuing his word and about your children heeding your way speak to the persistence of this decree through habit; as you maintain fidelity to that inner truth, the throne of Israel—the king within—remains secure.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, breathe, and enter the inner court of your mind. Assume the state, I am strong, I walk in truth, I prosper, and feel that state as already real.
