Inner Fire Against False Gods
1 Kings 18:25-29 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Kings 18 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Elijah exposes the futility of calling on outward powers; the Baal altar yields no fire. The true response comes from within when one aligns with the I AM.
Neville's Inner Vision
Elijah's test is a mirror: the God you call upon is the God you already are. The prophets of Baal embody countless beliefs you have accepted as sources of power outside yourself. They cry, they strive, they cut themselves, yet the inner fire never comes because no true fire exists apart from your awareness. When midday comes and there is silence, you are being asked to stop paying homage to images and to return to the one I AM within. The moment you stop seeking fire from without and fix your attention on the I AM, you discover that imagination is the creator, and awareness is the flame. Your altar is within; your prayers become a revision of your state of consciousness until you feel the truth of the fulfilled desire. The scene is not punishment but a discipline: to test your inner alignment and choose the living deity of your moment-by-moment consciousness. Here the noonday silence is invitation: revise the belief that power resides outside. Own your sovereignty, and let the voice you seek arise as the felt reality of the I AM already within.
Practice This Now
Choose a present longing, close your eyes, and imagine the I AM within lighting your inner altar now. Revise the belief that power comes from without and feel the wish fulfilled as your true state.
