Elijah's Drought: Inner Authority
1 Kings 17:1 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Kings 17 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Elijah declares there will be no dew or rain in Israel for years, speaking with the authority of the LORD before whom he stands. The drought marks the alignment of outer events with an inner state of obedience and faith.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the I AM stands as the sole governor of conditions. Elijah’s proclamation is not a complaint against nature, but a declaration from a mind wholly aligned with divine principle. When he says, before whom I stand he names the inner posture that makes any decree law. The drought that follows is the outer weather of a consciousness that has not yet learned to rain from within. The inner lesson is this: your word is your assumption, and your assumption shapes the world when sustained with the feeling of its truth. Therefore, the true drought is a misalignment between your sense of self and the I AM; the true rain is the realization that you are always where the I AM is. Practice this by returning to the I AM in stillness, and by overhearing your own voice declare the end you desire as already present. As you dwell in that premise, the outer climate bends to your inner decree, and your life becomes the dew and rain you accept as yours.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In the next moment, close your eyes and affirm in present tense, There is dew and rain in my life now, according to my word. Then feel the relief and certainty as if it were already true.
