Biblical Context
God tells Jeroboam that, though exalted and made prince over Israel, he did not follow David's heart but instead made molten images, provoking divine anger; rebellion disrupts inner order.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this passage, Jeroboam embodies a state of consciousness that has risen in you and within you is the opportunity to choose. The LORD says, I exalted thee, yet you fashioned other gods and cast me behind your back. The kingdom you govern is your inner life; when you substitute images for obedience you dismember that life and invite inner upheaval. David's fidelity is a model of the disciplined heart—obedient, single-minded, attuned to God’s presence. If you would hear the true call, you must retire the idols of power, image, and fear and yield to the I AM as sole ruler of your inner realm. The shift is not outward achievement but inner alignment: you revise your scene until the commandment is kept with all your heart, not in ritual, but in consciousness. When you return to that inner law, the inner kingdom is restored, and your life will reflect harmony, authority, and peace.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: For the next 7 days, when you sense an impulse toward image-making or external power, pause, breathe into the I AM, and revise the scene by declaring 'I am keeping thy commandments with all my heart' until it feels true.
