Inner Temple, Outer Decline
1 Kings 14:21-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Rehoboam's reign in Judah is described, and the people turn away from the Lord. They build high places and engage in abominations like idol worship.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed inwardly, the outer scenes are states of mind. Rehoboam's reign becomes a symbol of a consciousness that has forgotten its altar and allowed belief systems to usurp the throne of I AM within. The high places, images, and groves are not distant monuments but inner attachments--habits of thought that elevate form above truth and invite the jealousy of the divine I AM. The sodomites and the practices of the nations represent distortions of aligned love and the misuse of passion when separation from God governs choice. When the inner temple is crowded with these substitutes, the inner sanctuary feels emptied, and evil in the sight of the LORD mirrors a mind out of alignment with its own inner law. Yet the passage also reveals the path: the true Jerusalem is within, and the Lord chose to place His name there in you. To change what you experience, you do not fight outward events but revise your assumption, enthrone the I AM, and let your awareness dissolve the power of these inner altars.
Practice This Now
Assume the throne of your inner Jerusalem now: I AM awareness enthroned, dissolving every idol of fear and need. Feel the reality of a temple that honors true worship by resting in the I AM.
