1 Kings 14:21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Rehoboam, Solomon's son, begins to reign in Judah at forty-one, ruling seventeen years from Jerusalem, the city the LORD chose. His mother was Naamah the Ammonitess.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of Rehoboam's reign as a symbolic drama of your own consciousness. Rehoboam rules in Judah—the land of your defined awareness—within the city the LORD chose, Jerusalem, which represents the centered state of I AM consciousness in you. The numbers are less about history and more about the stability of your inner state: forty-one marks the established maturity of your attention; seventeen years denotes sustained expression of your inner decision. Your kingdom is not a throne in a distant land but the realm of your awareness from which every action proceeds. The LORD choosing the city signifies that your inner center is sovereign; authority follows alignment with God within, not external power. When you dwell in that inner city, you are learning to govern from stillness, letting your thoughts and feelings reflect the divine decree. This is practical: imagine you rule from that inner Jerusalem, and feel the certainty that you are supported by the LORD as your unconditioned I AM. In time, outward events will align with this inner decree, as rain follows the cloud.
Practice This Now
Practice: Sit quietly, breathe, and assume, 'I reign now from the inner Jerusalem of my consciousness.' Feel the throne within your chest and let the sense of sovereignty saturate your actions today.
