Inner Prophecy, Outer Witness

1 Kings 13:31-32 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Kings 13 in context

Scripture Focus

31And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:
32For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass.
1 Kings 13:31-32

Biblical Context

A man of God proclaims judgment on Bethel's altar and the high places; even after his burial, the prophecy is said to come to pass.

Neville's Inner Vision

What you are hearing is a map of consciousness, not a history lesson. The man of God represents a higher state of awareness speaking truth to inner idolatries. When the word is spoken against the altar, it is the law in your mind: once a decree issues from the I AM, it must pass into form. The old wish to bury beside the prophet is a symbol of clinging to a former state of consciousness; yet the power of the original word remains operative, ready to work through your life. You may bury old beliefs—the high places in your mind—but you cannot delete the effect of the decree once it is spoken. The outer world will reflect your inner conviction, for imagination creates reality. So, when you assume the state of the speaker and feel it real, you align with the truth that the I AM has already decreed. The prophecy will come to pass because it has been settled in consciousness. Stand firm in your assumed decree, and watch life reorder to match your inner word.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the state of the prophet within your mind and declare, 'The high places are judged in me.' Feel it real and hold the decree until your life begins to reflect the new worship.
