The False Word Within
1 Kings 13:16-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
One prophet is commanded not to eat or drink in the place; another speaker claims a word from the LORD and deceives him into returning to dine, illustrating how deceit arises when a supposed divine message is believed without inner discernment.
Neville's Inner Vision
See the scene as a state of consciousness rather than a history. The original command to eat or drink nothing is the unalterable I AM in you—the inner directive you will not abandon for any surface urgings. The boastful 'I am a prophet also' and the claim that an angel spoke to bring him back represents a counterfeit voice arising from fear, vanity, or a need to be seen as chosen. When you grant that voice authority, you invite a lie into your inner house and resist the essential stillness of the LORD. The remedy is not judgment of the other but a revision of the scene in your imagination: reaffirm the original command as true now, refuse the counterfeit, and stand firm in the awareness that the only voice worth following is the one that aligns with the I AM. Remember that imagination creates reality; by holding the inner decree in feeling and conviction, you dissolve the appearance of deceit and restore obedience to the true inner word.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and repeat, 'I am the I AM; I follow the inner command, not the counterfeit word,' until the feeling of certainty floods your body. Then revise the scene in your mind so the false prophet cannot sway you, and rest in the unchanged truth.
