Bethel Inner Word
1 Kings 13:1 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Kings 13 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
A man of God from Judah comes to Bethel by the word of the LORD, while Jeroboam stands by the altar to burn incense. The passage contrasts true worship with outward ritual.
Neville's Inner Vision
See the man of God as a state of consciousness entering Bethel, the heart’s house of God. Judah in you gives royal authority to hear and obey the inner decree. The word of the LORD is the inner command that creates form. Bethel is the sanctuary within where you align with the I AM. Jeroboam at the altar represents the old self clinging to outward ritual and the illusion that life arises from what you do outwardly. When you identify with the inner Word, true worship replaces the external rite; the world rearranges to reflect the decree you have assumed. In Neville’s view, you are the cause and your assumption the seed that sprouts as experience. The invitation is to dwell in the certainty of the Word until the outer scene confirms it as fact.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the inner Word has spoken within Bethel; feel the I AM as present reality. Hold that assumption until your outer atmosphere shifts to reflect it.
