Inner Servant Leadership
1 Kings 12:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Rehoboam consults the old men and learns that leadership arises from serving the people and speaking kindly. In Neville's view, this inner service is a state of consciousness that shapes outcomes.
Neville's Inner Vision
Rehoboam’s question is the moment you ask, 'What state of mind should I inhabit?' The old men in this scene embody a timeless counsel: authority flows from serving others with a clear, generous word. In your inner life, that counsel translates into a disciplined stance toward every projection—people, problems, desires. When you imagine yourself as the one who serves the situation—aligning your thoughts, words, and feelings with a servant-leader posture—you are creating a new atmosphere in your mind. Speak kind words to the moment, not to flatter it, but to awaken your own awareness to its legitimate needs. If you would have the outer world serve you, begin by serving it in imagination: assume a response that respects its truth, revise doubts into trust, and feel the sense that the outcome you seek is already present. Through such incarnation of service, the ‘people’ become faithful allies of your inner state, not distant subjects, and your consciousness becomes a sanctuary in which they flourish.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, assume the posture of the servant-leader toward a current issue, and declare, 'I serve this situation with wisdom and kindness.' Then feel the truth of the outcome as if it is already real.
