From Egypt to Inner Kingship
1 Kings 12:2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jeroboam, still in Egypt, learns of events around Solomon's rule, marking his exile from the royal scene.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the awakened view, the narrative is not about geography but states of consciousness. Jeroboam dwelling in Egypt represents a mind separated from the I AM presence of king Solomon—the inner source of authority. When it says he 'heard of it,' it signals that the outer world of kings and plots merely mirrors inner movements. Exile is a mental posture born of fear, the belief that power is elsewhere and not within your own awareness. The invitation of the verse is not to study a historical escape but to notice what state you are in right now: are you listening from the courtroom of consciousness where you already rule, or are you dwelling in an Egyptian shadow of lack? Return is possible each moment, since the King resides where attention resides: in your seat of awareness, the I AM. By choosing to identify with the inner king, you reverse Jeroboam's position; you awaken a memory that you never truly left the throne, only wandered in the outer scene.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and feel the 'I AM' as the ruling Presence; revise the scene by picturing Jeroboam hearing of the kingdom and, in your imagination, return to the throne.
