Inner King and the Tent of Israel
1 Kings 12:16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Kings 12 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Israel sees the king ignores their voice, and they declare they have no portion in David, turning to their tents. The scene exposes a split between inner authority and outward demands.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here, the crowd is not a nation but a state of consciousness within you. 'Israel' represents the many thoughts and divided desires seeking a king other than the I AM. 'David' signifies the inner ruler, the state of consciousness that recognizes its true authority. When the outer king hearkens to no one, your inner self feels unheard and the mind splits into tents—divergent directions—each a private belief, a wish, a fear. Neville… the moment you observe this you are not to condemn the people but to realize you have merely created a scenario in which the inner king has not been acknowledged. The remedy is not rebellion but a decisive reidentification: assume the feeling of one rulership, that you are the sole David in your house, your life, your world. The I AM within you is the sovereign, and the crowd's departure is only the drama of your present state. So revise, rest in the calm awareness that you are the king who speaks and acts from within, and the outward scene must align with this inner decree. Imagination becomes reality as you hold to that inward allegiance until the outer forms reflect it.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe, and assume the feeling of the I AM as the sole ruler in your life. Then revise the moment by saying, I AM David here; what portion have I in David? None; I am the king within.
