Inner Adversary of Solomon
1 Kings 11:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Kings 11 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Solomon is shown facing an inner challenge: the LORD stirs up an adversary from within his own lineage. This reveals that outward events reflect inner states and the tests of faith and trust in the kingdom of God within.
Neville's Inner Vision
Solomon’s history is your inner calendar. When the LORD stirs up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite, it speaks of the stirring of a thought-form from within the kingdom of your own mind. Hadad, being of Edom, is the old allegiance of the heart to separation and exterior power—the seed in you that imagines itself a separate king. The stirring is God as I AM calling you to notice an inner movement, a resistance that arises as if from outside, but really from your own condition of consciousness. Events are states, and this adversary is not punishment but a cue to practice your awareness—identify the belief, revise it, and affirm that the true ruler of your life is the unlimited, indivisible I AM. As you hold that recognition, the appearance of Hadad fades, not by force but by a shift of inner vibration. The so-called trial thus becomes a door to greater trust in Providence, not a sign of absence, but a sign that you are waking to your birthright as the kingdom within.
Practice This Now
Imaginative_act: Sit quietly and imagine the I AM as king of your inner palace. When the thought of Hadad arises, revise it by declaring 'I am the sole ruler here' and feel that sovereign stillness.
