Overcoming the World Within

1 John 5:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 5 in context

Scripture Focus

5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5:5

Biblical Context

The verse declares that true victory over the world comes to those who believe Jesus is the Son of God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Belonging to the I AM, the one who overcomes is not a person wrestling with external odds but a state of consciousness. The world represents appearances—fear, doubt, and limitation. When you believe intimately that Jesus is the Son of God, an inner recognition that the Christ, the Divine Presence, is the true self, you align with a power that reorganizes inner weather and outer conditions. This belief is not merely intellectual assent but living identification: I am the Christ in expression, the Son of God in consciousness. As you persist in that identification, the outer conditions rearrange to match the inner decree. The moment you insist on your oneness with Christ, a shift in mood, perception, and decision occurs; what once seemed impossible yields to a quiet certainty. Victory is already accomplished in your inner life, and the world simply catches up.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the feeling I am the belief that Jesus is the Son of God until the sense of oneness rises as real. Then move through your day acting from that inner truth.
