The Inner Sin Distinction
1 John 5:17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 John 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse states that all unrighteousness is sin, and that there is a sin not unto death.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, John speaks of sin as a condition of consciousness, not a ledger of deeds. Unrighteousness arises when the I AM forgets itself as awareness and leases the sense of separation to thought and feeling. Yet there is a sin not unto death—a door opened by the realization that nothing in your essential being dies; the I AM remains. The implication for you is practical: you do not battle the world. you revise the inner story until the sense of separation dissolves and you awaken to your unity with God. When you imagine yourself as the one presence here and now, you stop calling your life a series of unworthy acts and begin calling it the living proof of the inner purity. Forgiveness follows from recognition, not from punishment. By dwelling in the awareness that you are the I AM, you convert unrighteousness into an inner revelation of wholeness, and the outward sin ceases to have power.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise the inner scene by declaring I am the I AM, pure and complete. Feel it real now, letting the sense of separation melt into the one presence that holds all.
