Assumptive Prayer for Inner Life

1 John 5:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 5 in context

Scripture Focus

16If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
1 John 5:16-17

Biblical Context

Some sins are not unto death, while others are. You can pray for a brother whose sin is not unto death, but there is a sin unto death for which you do not pray.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within your dream of life, see sin as a misalignment in the state you hold about yourself and others. When you behold your brother's fault not unto death, you are not judging him; you are noticing a shift in your own consciousness that needs re-homing. The I AM within you is the only actor; by turning your attention to that life that is always whole, you awaken both him and yourself. Pray not as petition but as the assurance: 'In my world, you awaken to life.' The sin unto death is the stubborn belief that separation is final; you do not accompany that belief with your attention, but you do address the gentler movement toward life with your faith in a reviving consciousness. All unrighteousness is sin, yet there exists a sin not unto death—a false conclusion about a brother that you can revise by returning to the truth of his unity with God. Your power is in the present assumption; your love is the light of that assumption illuminating the whole scene.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine your brother alive with the life you know in you; silently affirm, 'You live in God, therefore you live in me,' until that livingness feels real.
