Life for Sin: Inner Intercession
1 John 5:16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 John 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse says that if you see a brother sin a sin not unto death, you may pray for life for him; there exists a sin unto death for which prayer is not advised.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville, the verse speaks not of external wrongdoing but of states of consciousness. When you perceive your brother's 'sin,' recognize it as a movement in your own awareness—an old pattern not aligned with I AM. The instruction to 'pray' is a directive to restore life within your inner atmosphere by assuming the New State for them, as if they were already whole. There is a 'sin unto death'—a fixed identification with separation—that you do not pray for, because you do not reinforce it in your mind. Your true work is to hold the sense of Life for them (and thus for yourself) by insisting on the life they already are. As you imagine them alive, healed, and aligned, you shift your consciousness; conditions in the outer world follow. The practice is not begging but conscious creation—the I AM affirming Life where fear existed, and your inner vision becomes the seed of transformation.
Practice This Now
When you notice a brother's fault, close your eyes, breathe, and assume the state of Life for him; silently declare, 'I AM Life in you now,' and feel the vitality as if it were already yours for 5 minutes.
