1 John 5:13-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 5 in context

Scripture Focus

13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
1 John 5:13-15

Biblical Context

Believers are told they can know they have eternal life and may believe on the name of the Son. They have a confident sense that God hears when their requests align with His will.

Neville's Inner Vision

Conceive of these verses as a mirror of your inner state. You are not petitioning a distant power; you are waking to the I AM that you are. To know eternal life is to recognize life as a state of consciousness you consciously assume, not a prize hovering beyond your present feeling. When you believe on the Son of God, you claim your true identity as image and likeness, and your inner petition is heard because it springs from your higher self. The principle that we ask according to his will guides alignment: ask only as your inner impulse corresponds to God’s own motion within you. Pray from the end—feel the wish already fulfilled—then observe the inner atmosphere respond. The moment you know you are heard, you know you have received the petitions you desired; God is the I AM within you answering this very moment. Your practice is to maintain the assumption and let imagination do the work, not circumstances.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled: you already have eternal life and your prayer is answered; repeat the present-tense conviction until it dominates your inner weather.
