Biblical Context
Belief that Jesus is the Christ marks the new birth; loving God means loving His begotten. Keeping His commandments reveals that love, and faith overcomes the world.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the ear of the inner man, this letter says: your faith is the birth certificate of God in you. When you declare 'Jesus is the Christ,' you affirm that you are born of God; you enter the state in which the I AM recognizes the begotten as beloved. Loving the begat is trust in the source of your life, and keeping His commandments becomes a natural expression, not a heavy rule, because the commandments flow from your true self. The world is overcome not by outward struggle but by a change of state—one you enter through faith. The victory described is the victory of awareness: you believe in the Son of God, so the outer scene bends to that consciousness. Do not seek to mend the world; awaken to the truth that you are that birth. Then obedience ceases to be burden; it becomes alignment. Your inner conviction rewrites your experience, and what seemed formidable is revealed as the ease of your own nature.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes, repeat, 'I am born of God; I believe Jesus is the Christ,' and feel it real. Then act from that state by loving the begotten and keeping His commandments as effortless expression of your true self.
