I Am Love Manifested Within

1 John 4:9-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 4 in context

Scripture Focus

9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1 John 4:9-11

Biblical Context

God’s love is shown by sending His Son so we may live through Him; love comes from God, not from our own pursuing, and we are urged to love one another.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this text, the love of God toward us is not an event in time but the steady state of awareness you are invited to assume. God is the I AM within you, and the 'Son' is the living idea of your true self, the doorway through which you live. When you understand that you live through Him, you are waking to the truth that life is an inner impression upon your consciousness. Not that you first loved God, but that He loved you—this means the inner energy of love is already resident in you, awaiting your recognition. To 'send his Son to be the propitiation for our sins' is to recognize the sacrifice of limitation—beliefs of separation—and to acknowledge that every act of forgiveness and mercy is a Christ-like movement inside your mind. Beloved, if God thus loves us, we ought also to love one another, because love is the rule of your own selfhood; when you feel that you are loved, the world around you becomes an expression of that love.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Assume you are loved by God now, feel the I AM as the living source of Love within you, and live through that awareness. Quietly reframe another person as the manifestation of the same Self, and let gestures of mercy and care flow from that inner state.
