Inner Love, Bold Presence

1 John 4:16-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 4 in context

Scripture Focus

16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:16-18

Biblical Context

God is love, and those who live in love dwell in God and God dwells in them. Perfect love removes fear and gives boldness, because as God is, so are we in this world.

Neville's Inner Vision

Picture God as the I AM within you, not a distant power but the very awareness you are. When the verse says we have known and believed the love God hath to us, it names your present conviction—you are already loved, therefore you are already home. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him—this is a description of your true state: consciousness dwelling in a perpetual radiance. Herein is your love made perfect: not by effort, but by living from the assumption that the I AM is the source and residence of love. Therefore we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, so are we in this world. Judgment here is only a shifting of attention; when you know love as your own nature, fear loses its grip and no longer torments. The moment you decide to wear love as your inner garment, the outer scenes adjust to reflect that inner peace. You are not fighting fear; you are claiming the state that already casts it out.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and repeat: 'I am loved; God is love; I dwell in love, and love dwells in me.' Feel it as present reality until fear loosens its grip.
