Dwelling in Divine Love

1 John 4:16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 4 in context

Scripture Focus

16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
1 John 4:16

Biblical Context

God's love is the defining reality; to dwell in love is to dwell in God, and God dwells in you. The verse invites you to rest in the inner truth of divine presence.

Neville's Inner Vision

1 John 4:16 invites you to a state of consciousness rather than a distant doctrine. We have known and believed the love God has toward us, and that God is love is the living condition of your inner life. The I AM within you is the current of love that makes its home in your heart; when you dwell in that love you dwell in God, and God dwells in you. Any sense of separation is but a temporary trance, dissolved the moment you assume the truth you already know: you are loved, you are love, and you are inseparable from God's presence. This is not longing for love, but the act of letting love occupy your awareness. As you persist in this inner state, your outward world bends toward harmony because your perception carries the vibrational signature of that love. Faith here is trust in your own inner recognition, not in external signs. Repeat inwardly I am love. I dwell in love. God dwells in me. This is your dwelling place and your creative power.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the truth now I am loved; I dwell in God, and God dwells in me. For a few minutes, feel this dwelling as your present sensation, and revise any fear into that living reality.
