Dwelling Within Love

1 John 4:12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 4 in context

Scripture Focus

12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
1 John 4:12

Biblical Context

The verse notes that God cannot be seen with the physical eye; however, when we love one another, God dwells within us and His love is made complete in us.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of this text as a map for your inner life. No man hath seen God at any time, for God is not an object to be observed by sight. God is the I AM within your own consciousness. When you love one another, you do not search outward to find Him; you allow Him to express through your thoughts, words, and deeds. In that moment, God dwelleth in us; the inner light of His presence is invited to shine through your reactions to others. The word 'perfected' means that the divine love enlarges toward fullness as you practice love consistently; it completes its circular movement within you—from belief to action, from self to neighbor, back to the self that knows It is one with all. Persist, and 'seeing' gives way to 'knowing': you perceive unity not as a doctrine, but as your living state. The neighbor becomes a mirror of your true self; unity flows from the I AM that loves through you.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the state that God dwells in you now; feel the warmth of the I AM in your chest. Silently declare, 'God is love within me,' and allow that feeling to expand into your daily interactions.
