1 John 3:8 affirms that sin aligns one with the devil, but the Son of God is manifested to destroy the devil's works.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed through Neville's lens, sin is not a record of misdeeds but a stubborn habit of thought—an inner state that clings to separation. When you call that state 'the devil,' you name the old self that keeps you bound to fear, guilt, and justifications. The verse teaches that the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil by awakening you to your true I AM, the presence that never sinned, never separated, and never lacked. The moment you discover that God-hood within you, the imagined adversary loses its force, for you have shifted from identifying with the tale of lack to affirming the fact of divine life. The 'Word' within you becomes the hammer that breaks the chains of false belief. In practice, you don't fight sin from without; you re-state your identity. You assume, in imagination and feeling, that you are the one whom the Father loves, that you are the consciousness through which all things are created, and that the works of the devil vanish as you dwell in that state of oneness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume the state you are already free; feel the I AM present. Sit for 5 minutes, repeating 'I am one with God' and feel the liberation as the works of the devil dissolve.
