Abiding In Him: Sinlessness

1 John 3:5-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 3 in context

Scripture Focus

5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
1 John 3:5-6

Biblical Context

Christ was manifested to remove our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Those who abide in Him do not sin; those who sin have not seen or known Him.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within these verses the manifestation is your inner self opening to the Christ presence. Jesus came to awaken you to a sinless condition by revealing the truth of your true nature, which dwells in God. To abide in Him is to dwell in that Christ-awareness, the I AM that you actually are. When you rest in that awareness, actions and thoughts align with purity; sin is not annihilated by effort but dissolved by recognition. ‘In Him there is no sin’ means there is no division in your consciousness when you know who you are. To have seen or known Him is to have acknowledged the reality of God within your own being, not merely an external story. The moment you identify with that inner Christ, the sense of separation fades and you live from the state of wholeness that already exists. The passage invites you to shift your center of gravity from the ego’s conditions to the divine presence that already cleared sin from your experience.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes; assume the feeling 'I am in Christ, I am sinless in Him, and I know Him now.' Stay there for a few minutes, and when a sin-thought arises, revise it by declaring, 'I see Him; I am in Him; sin has no place here.'
