Awakening to Divine Sonship

1 John 3:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 3 in context

Scripture Focus

2Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
1 John 3:2-3

Biblical Context

John tells us we are already God's children. The full measure of what we shall become is not yet revealed, but with this hope we purify ourselves.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, the verse speaks of a present state of consciousness, not a distant event. When it mentions appearing, it points to an inner revelation: the divine image within you waking to be seen as real. The 'we shall be like him' becomes your inner alignment, a likeness achieved by the renewed seeing of your true self. The hope described is not mere aspiration but the magnetic energy that pulls your attention back to that state, and with that pull purification begins. Purification is not punishment; it is the shedding of fear, limitation, and the sense of separation as your awareness rests in the truth of sonship. As you dwell in the awareness that you are already the child of God, your thoughts, feelings, and choices reflect purity. Your external life becomes a mirror of the inner image you accept. Thus the appearance of Him is the inner recognition that makes all things conform to the divine pattern within you.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and repeat, 'I am the Son of God now.' Feel this truth as a living sensation in the chest; see inside you the likeness of Christ; hold that image until the sense of purity radiates into your thoughts and actions.
