Love in Deed and Truth

1 John 3:17-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 3 in context

Scripture Focus

17But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:17-18

Biblical Context

If you have abundance and see a brother in need, you should not shut your compassion. True love is proven in deeds and truth, not merely in words.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the verse as a mirror of your inner life. 'This world's goods' are not merely coins but the wealth of awareness you entertain. If you see a brother in need, you are not meeting a stranger; you are meeting a reflection of your current inner state. Shutting the bowels of compassion blocks the flow of life from your I AM, denying the love that animates you. The command to love in deed and in truth asks you to revise your sense of possession: you already possess the light and means to bless another. Your generosity is the outward sign of an inward reality—that God, the I AM, dwells within you as the source of all supply. When you assume abundance and act from that assumption, your world rearranges to fit the new feeling. Deed must accompany the inner truth, for imagination creates reality; thus your acts of care are the proof your inner God is awake.

Practice This Now

Assume you have abundance now and feel it real; then act in truth toward someone in need today.
