Dwelling In The Inner Light

1 John 2:9-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 2 in context

Scripture Focus

9He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
1 John 2:9-11

Biblical Context

The passage declares that claiming to be in the light while hating a brother places you in darkness; true light comes to those who love their neighbor.

Neville's Inner Vision

You are not a separate body struggling to become good. You are awareness, the I AM, and your inner world creates your outer encounter. When you say you are in the light but hate your brother, you bind yourself to a consciousness of darkness, a fog that blinds direction and hides your way. Hatred is a self-imposed spiritual blindness that convinces you you are separate from a fellow image of God. To enter the light, shift your state: feel and insist that you are the light, and that your brother is not an obstacle but a manifestation of the same one life within you. By loving, you revise your inner atmosphere and invite the light to reveal the path you were meant to walk. Your true self notices no division; the moment you hold a loving state, your eyes are opened and confusion dissolves into guidance and unity.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling of the state, 'I am in the light, and I love my brother.' In the next moment, bless the person in your thoughts and rest in the sense of unity until it feels real.
