Walking in Him: Truth Embodied

1 John 2:4-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 2 in context

Scripture Focus

4He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
1 John 2:4-6

Biblical Context

The passage sets a test: claiming to know God while not keeping His commandments is a lie. True possession of God’s love comes when one keeps His word and walks as Jesus walked.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your commandments are not external rules pressed upon you from the world; they are the inner rhythm of your own consciousness. If you say, 'I know Him' but refuse to keep His word, you have argued against the very standard by which you measure reality, and the truth withdraws from that split state. The liar is not the person you accuse, but the habit of a mind that pretends to be in Him while living as if obedience were optional. When you truly keep His word, you discover that the love of God is perfected in you; this is not an achievement but a recognition that you are already in Him, and He in you. The walk then becomes a natural expression of your inner state: you act in alignment with the divine standard, not to gain love but because love has already found you. In practice, faith is not belief separate from behavior; faith is the fulfilled state in which your daily acts are the visible proof that you live in Him.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Assume the feeling, 'I am in Him, and His word guides me.' Today, choose one small action that expresses obedience and feel the truth of walking as He walked.
