Abide With Confidence: 1 John 2:28-29

1 John 2:28-29 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 2 in context

Scripture Focus

28And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
1 John 2:28-29

Biblical Context

The passage urges believers to remain in fellowship with Christ so that at his coming they may have boldness instead of shame, and to recognize that those who do righteousness are born of him.

Neville's Inner Vision

Abiding in him is not a distant rule but the steady awareness that I am the I AM expressing as you. When you imagine yourself living as the Christ within, the coming of the Lord becomes the unveiling of your true state, not a future event. Since he is righteous, every act of righteousness flows from the inner birth that is already yours. To do righteousness is to acknowledge your oneness with that inner standard, not to chase moral effort. Your confidence at his coming rests on the certainty that you are already in him, so there is no need to fear recognition by the outer world. The I AM shines as your own inner voice, guiding choices and easing shame. As you persist in this inner alignment, your outer life gradually reflects that divine birth. The imagined scene becomes the proof: you behold yourself as whole, and others respond from your realized state.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and declare I am abiding in the I AM. Then feel the present sense of that inner state as your reality now.
