The Will That Abides Forever
1 John 2:17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 John 2 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The world and its desires fade away. Those who do the will of God endure forever.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the world as the outward picture of your present state of consciousness. When you learn that the will of God is the inner law by which you live, the passing show of the outer world loses its charge. To do the will of God is to align with the I AM that you are—the timeless presence that orders all from within. Then the question, the drama of hunger or craving, and even the changing weather of circumstance, no longer set the measure of your life. You abide forever not by clinging to forms, but by dwelling in the eternal state of awareness that Godly order implies. If you find yourself swept by temptation, revise the scene by returning to I AM and declaring, 'I am the will of God in action.' Feel the consciousness steady as a rock, and watch the outer scene rearrange to reflect that inner truth. Your permanence is the consciousness that remains true to God, even as the world passes away and lust fades.
Practice This Now
Assume the state of alignment with God's will now, and feel the I AM as your present power. If the outer scene tempts you, revise by returning to 'I am the will of God in action'.
