Inner Knowing of the Beginning

1 John 2:13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 2 in context

Scripture Focus

13I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
1 John 2:13

Biblical Context

John writes to fathers, young men, and little children, describing three stages of spiritual experience. Each stage points to inner knowing: the Beginning, the overcoming of the wicked one, and the Father who is known.

Neville's Inner Vision

View the verse as a map of inner states. The Fathers are the awareness that knows the Beginning. The young men are the energy that overcomes the wicked one by mastering thought and feeling. The little children are those who know the Father by living in His presence. In Neville’s tone, you are not addressing external persons but cards of your own consciousness. When you feel that you already know Him who is from the Beginning, you stand as the I AM, the unchanging awareness behind all experience. To overcome the wicked one you do not fight with force but shift your inner posture until fear and doubt lose their pull. The Father is not distant but the source of your every moment. As you entertain this awareness you discover that the world falls into place and events align with your inner conviction.

Practice This Now

In a calm moment, assume the feeling that you already know the Father and that you have overcome the wicked one. Feel the shift as if the I AM is awake within you and your day proceeds from that inner authority.
