Inner Advocate of Grace

1 John 2:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 2 in context

Scripture Focus

1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1 John 2:1-2

Biblical Context

John teaches that forgiveness is available through Jesus the righteous advocate, who is the propitiation for our sins and for the whole world.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this text, the Father is the wind of awareness that animates your being. Sin is not a distant crime but a misalignment within your state of consciousness. Jesus Christ the righteous is the pattern of your own I AM—the advocate standing before the inner court of your mind, reconciling divided thoughts with the one Life within. When you claim that you have an advocate, you acknowledge that your higher self mediates guilt back into love. Propitiation becomes inner balance: the mind’s memory is washed by the realization that you are already acceptable in the sight of your complete self, and thus your inner world is reconciled. Not for ours only but for the sins of the whole world points to the universal reach of this mercy, extending to every corner of your awareness. Practically, awaken to the I AM as the advocate now, revise any sense of separation, and feel the truth that awareness already propitiates all experience.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare: 'I am the advocate within me; forgiveness is already mine.' Then feel the quiet release as that state takes full possession of your mind.
