Walking In The Inner Light

1 John 1:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 1 in context

Scripture Focus

6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:6-7

Biblical Context

To say we have fellowship with God while walking in darkness is a lie. Walking in the light, as He is in the light, brings true fellowship and cleansing from sin.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, John invites a change of consciousness rather than a list of deeds. Darkness is the habit of thinking you are separate from the Source; light is the awareness that you are the I AM, the living presence within. When you begin to imagine yourself walking in the light, you are not fleeing reality; you are aligning with the truth of your being. Fellowship with God becomes inner harmony and radiates into your relationships, for as you hold to the light, your brother and sister reflect that light back to you. The blood of Jesus, understood here, is the steady cleansing energy of awareness that washes away used-up beliefs about sin; sin dissolves where consciousness is awake. So you walk not by rule alone but by the steady assumption of light, and reality answers from within, showing you the truth you already are.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already walking in the light now; revise any statement of darkness, and feel the light cleansing your being as you breathe.
